Tier-III Training Programme on " Ground Water Development and Management Practices" Held at Kakching District
Kakching, February 16- Ministry of Jal Shakti Central Ground Water Board North Eastern Region Guwahati, Govt. of India organized a Tier- III Training Programme on " Ground Water Development and Management Practices " at Anganching Eco Park of Kakching District.

The launching of the Training program was attended by Chief Engineer of Minor Irrigation Department Manipur H. Brajendro as Chief Guest, Regional Director of Central Ground Water Board North Eastern Region Guwahati Suresh Chandra Kapil as Functionary President, and Principal of Thambal Marik College Oinam, Manipur Prof. Kh. Mohon as Guest of Honor.

Addressing the training program Chief Engineer H. Brajendro said that in lean season and at this time of water scarcity, drying up of riverbeds, ponds, lakes, and water bodies, groundwater will be the only source of potable water. Extraction of groundwater in Manipur has some technical disadvantages and consultation with a technician to solve this problem at the earliest is a must he added. He also drew the attention of the Regional Director to take up plans and programs whenever possible under the Ministry of Jal Shakti Central Ground Water Board North Eastern Region, Guwahati.

At the Technical Session of the Training program, Retd. Geophysicist of PHED Manipur Dr. K. Rajen, Dr. S. Manichandra, and Dr. RK. Chingkhei of Manipur University spokes as Guest Speakers on " Importance of Ground Water and issues and Management ". Scientists of Central Ground Water Board North Eastern Region Guwahati spokes as Resource Person on "Ground Water Scenario of Kakching, Manipur and Ground Water Quality Issue in Manipur" using PPT/ Video/ Short film demonstration
